    WHAT IS A VETERAN?

A veteran is a different kind of man. Maybe he doesn't look or act much different from his neighbor who never wore the uniform, but deep in his memories and emotions there is a difference..A veteran is a man who knows the answer to the question: "What is war?" each veteran he his own set of answers. They are like sharp little photographers that from time to time he looks just to remind himself that he lived through a great and terrible tragedy and was forever change by it.War is the relaxation that all the purpose of your life, all the years of school and growing up , all the strength and wisdom and courage, have been brought together into one point of action the way you look through a gunsight or the speed with which you cross a patch of ground.War, finally, is thousands of acres of white crosses, and the memory of some of the men who forever sleep in foreign soil. War is the knowledge that we must not betray them, that we must hold fast to the faith for which they died.War-for an American-is the knowledge that it was worth the cost. We know our cause is jus * We know that we played our part in the never-ending struggle for human Free
